Lanes engineers get the message – slow down, geese crossing!

Lanes drainage engineers know all about the need for excellent health and safety – and it appears these geese do too!

A Lanes Utilities team working for Thames Water was travelling between jobs when they had to stop to allow these smart birds cross the road, at a pedestrian crossing.

They were so impressed that they snapped a picture at the crossing in Enfield, North London.

Drainage engineer David Hicks said: “It was a funny sight, watching the geese bring traffic to a halt while they used the pedestrian crossing.”

Fortunately for the birds this wasn’t a pelican crossing, or a puffin crossing – so there were no fiddly buttons to press.

Then again, it was not strictly a ‘goose crossing’ either.

David said: “There’s a lake on one side of the road and a large area of the grass on the other. The ducks and geese like to congregate on the grass, so have to cross the road.”

The pedestrian crossing appears perfectly placed for the requirement.

The only question is – which one’s Ringo?
