Lanes Group selected as finalist in Salford Business Awards 2014

Lanes Group has been shortlisted as a finalist in the prestigious Salford Business Awards.

Lanes, which has headquarter operations and a regional depot in Monton, Eccles, Greater Manchester, is a finalist in the Innovation Award sponsored by Salford University.

Richard Leigh, Lanes Group Sales Director, who is based in Eccles, said: “We are very pleased and very proud as a local company to be selected as a finalist in the Salford Business Awards.

“We see ourselves as being part of the Salford business community, so gaining recognition and promoting local business success by being part of these awards is important to us.”

The Innovation Award is one of nine awards being presented at an awards ceremony and dinner at the AJ Bell Stadium on Thursday June 5.

Lanes Group’s submission included a number of ‘UK firsts’ in the drainage and pipe rehabilitation industry. They include:

  • Essential Standards, a picture-based work guide and training manual created by the company’s Utilities Division to embed world class standards in the UK’s largest wastewater network services contract for Thames Water;
  • Devising a new rapid repair system to rehabilitate the drainage systems for 800 sheltered homes in Oldham, Greater Manchester;
  • Relining a 5ft wide culvert 30ft below a motorway in Scotland, with the largest inflatable pipe packers, needed to hold the liner in place, ever used in the UK.

Richard Leigh said: “Lanes is committed to continuously improving how we work, including introducing advanced digital management systems, to deliver faster, safer and more effective services for our clients and end-users, the general public.”

Lanes Group is the largest independent supplier of wastewater, utility and underground pipeline and utility services in the UK.

The company’s Eccles operations include its Reline Division, providing a national drainage rehabilitation service using innovative no dig technologies, its health and safety team, marketing and sales teams, and the company’s transport department, managing 710 vehicles for 23 UK depots.

It is also the operational centre for the North West of England, with a team of drainage engineers completing many thousands of jobs to unblock and repair drainage pipes across Greater Manchester, East Cheshire and Merseyside.

The Awards, organised by the University of Salford, The Business Group Salford and Salford City Council, are now in their seventh year and will be hosted by ITV journalist Elaine Willcox.
