Tyne & Wear Blocked Drains & Repairs
Blocked drains in Newcastle
Here in the Tyne and Wear region, the emergency drain unblocking teams at our Washington depot are on standby to clear your blocked drains in the North East round the clock.
Emergency response teams unblock drains, 24-hours a day, 365-days a year, across Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and North Durham, taking in all the major towns and cities from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Washington, Gosforth and Gateshead to North and South Shields, Sunderland, Blyth, Consett, Chester-le-Street and Hoghton-le-Spring.
Our depot is ideally located, just off the A194(M), and our engineers in Washington — like those at all our Lanes’ depots — have the expertise and sophisticated technology to make short work of any drainage problem.
The team in Washington has developed an excellent reputation for dealing promptly with any drain blockage or drain repair in Tyne and Wear, whether it’s a commercial, industrial or domestic situation. As a result, the depot has expanded over the years, thanks to a stable and professional local management team who really know how to look after their customers.

North East Regional Manager is canny lad, Eddie Roughley. Durham born and bred, Eddie has been with Lanes for longer than he cares to remember. As a kid, he wanted to be Roy of the Rovers from the comic, ‘Tiger’: “I always loved football, played it forever, and fantasised that I would be a football hero”. He does leave Tyne and Wear behind sometimes though, and has travelled to Australia, the US, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Thailand and most of Europe. Eddie plans to do Oz again next year. Fair dinkum, mate!
Jude McKenna was born in Shotley Bridge Hospital, Consett, County Durham and is Works Co-ordinator at our Washington depot. Jude’s a big fan of Disney’s Little Mermaid. “I’d rather be Ariel than Sebastian though — being a pretty, red-headed mermaid is cooler than being a crab”. Holidays? “That’s easy. Anywhere the sun is shining and the drinks are flowing. I’ve been to the Dominican Republic several times, but as long as I’m warm, I’m happy!” Cheers, Jude!
Born in Gateshead at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Paul Laidler is our Operations Manager. He admits to being obsessed with Hong Kong Phooey as a child. “I had all the gear — watch, robe, bed sheets..... I thought I was him.” (Bless!) His favourite holiday spot is in Spain: “Pineda del Mar. It’s a family thing. My Grandfather first went there in the sixties. He took my Dad. My Dad took me. Now I’m taking my own son. It’s like home from home. With sun and sangria!”
Julia Sinclair is our Office Administrator. Born in Sunderland rather than Newcastle, she says that makes her a Mackem, not a Geordie... “unlike my unfortunate colleagues, ha ha!” (Let’s not stir up local rivalry, please.) But, besides being a Mackem, she’d quite like to be Princess Aurora (aka Sleeping Beauty), purely for the handsome prince and kissing bit. Julia’s top holiday spot is ‘anywhere hot and sunny’. That’d be Washington, then?!
