Health and Safety Training We’ve built our business around a strong health and safety culture and we’re absolutely committed to continued training. As a result, our safety record is second to none, and we’re very proud of that. It’s a reflection of just how much time and effort we put into ensuring the health and safety of our staff and systems, and we believe it’s one of the reasons for our fantastic success and growth.

Health and Safety - Toolbox Talk When it comes to staff, our Health and Safety team has it covered, in every respect. Training is an ongoing process which starts the day someone joins us, and continues right through their employment. We don’t just stick to the bare minimum either: you’ll find Lanes is always a step ahead when it comes to standards.

	First Aid	Mandatory so that all Lanes’ personnel can deal with medical emergencies.
	CSCS	Mandatory so that operatives meet a minimal level of H&S competence as defined by the CITB.
	UKPIA	For all personnel who may work on a petroleum forecourt.
	HPWJ - Safety Awareness	Mandatory for all disciplines involved with high pressure water jetting.
Jet Vac Tanker Driver	HGV Class II	Statutory for Lanes’ personnel driving HGVs up to Class II.
	JHL or Whale Tanker Familiarisation training	Mandatory for personnel using jet vacuumation tankers.

	OS19X	Once a CCTV surveying assistant has adequate experience, he or she is referred to the Water Research Council Sewer Classification course for formal certification.

	Confined Spaces	Mandatory competence at Lanes Group, giving staff the knowledge and skills to undertake operations in confined spaces safely.
	First Aid	Mandatory so that all Lanes’ personnel can deal with medical emergencies.
	CSCS	Mandatory so that operatives meet a minimal level of H&S competence as defined by the CITB.
	UKPIA	For all personnel who may work on a petroleum forecourt.
	Layher Scaffold Erection	Mandatory for reline operatives
Minor Civils Engineer	NRSWA training – Chapter 8	To undertake works on the public highway safely.
	NVQ Level 2 in Highways Maintenance & Excavation Operations or NVQ Level 2 in Construction Operations (Excavation and Reinstatement)	To give every operative a formal qualification in their discipline.
	Excavator Training	Mandatory for safe use of excavators up to 10-tonnes.
	Shoring	Mandatory for personnel undertaking minor civil works
