Large-diameter Pipe Point Lining

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds is turning farmland into the Wallasea Island Wild Coast – a saltmarsh twice the size of the City of London, making it Europe’s largest artificial wildlife reserve.

As part of the project, BAM Nuttall was carrying out groundworks to create a new lagoon on land that was designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest
(SSSI).

A culvert that would be an inlet from a waterway into the lagoon was defective and too weak to withstand high tide water flow-rates. BAM Nuttall wanted to avoid having to replace the culvert, so turned to Lanes Group, experts in rehabilitating sewers and culverts by lining them, for advice.
