Social housing drainage rehabilitation

Plymouth Community Homes, the largest social landlord in the city, needed to upgrade drains serving a mini-estate. It wanted to be sure the repairs were high quality and would provide a cost-effective, long-term solution.

The housing association, which manages 16,000 homes, commissioned Lanes through a process of competitive tender to carry out all necessary drainage
rehabilitation work.

A CCTV drainage survey, also carried out by Lanes, had revealed multiple defects in drainage pipes, including cracking, displaced joints and one partial pipe collapse.

A key challenge was to carry out the work without inconveniencing any of the tenants and other people living in and travelling through the local area.
