Lanes Group appoints Julie Hobbs as finance director

Drainage and wastewater specialist service provider Lanes Group plc has appointed Julie Hobbs as its finance director.

Julie had been the company’s long-standing financial controller. Her appointment follows the death, in January 2022, of the financial director, David Nutton.

Lanes Managing Director Wayne Earnshaw said: “We’re delighted Julie has agreed to join the Lanes board and continue her excellent work for our business.

“Having worked as David Nutton’s deputy, her appointment ensures continuity and stability in the management of our finances and the work of her very experienced and loyal finance team.”

Julie joined Lanes as its financial controller in 1996 at a time when the business was in its infancy, with just four depots across the north of England.

Lanes, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2022, now has more than 35 service depots and utility hubs, with a turnover of well over £200million.

Julie said: “I’m honoured to have the opportunity to continue the work David Nutton headed up so successfully for so many years.

“Lanes continues to grow and develop as a business and I am looking forward to contributing to the company’s success, serving our customers and creating new opportunities for our employees.”

Julie has played a pivotal role in establishing a strong finance team that has more than a hundred years’ collective experience and development under the Lanes umbrella.

Julie had been responsible also for heading up the financial reporting of Lanes’ biggest contract to date, the wastewater network services maintenance contract for Thames Water.
