Emma’s race for Louise

Emma Harvie, from Lanes’ out of hours call centre in Manchester, has helped raise over £1000 for Cancer Research after completing the Race for Life for her sister, Louise.

Mum of two, Louise, was diagnosed with breast cancer last October aged only 34, yet she completed the 5-kilometre race alongside Emma and their Mum, Patricia. The girls were also joined by seven other friends and two more relatives at the event in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham on 8 May.

“Only three weeks ago, Louise was in intensive care, so it’s a miracle that she was able to take part. She’s very brave,” says Emma.

“She has asked everyone she knows to do what they can for Cancer Research because she feels the charity has done so much for her, and she wants to give something back — it’s her way of saying thank you. ”

Emma says she has been bowled over by the kindheartedness of Lanes and its employees: “I’ve only been here for just over a year, but everyone has been so generous — even people I barely know. I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Lanes from me, and from Louise and her family.”
