Happy 20th birthday Lanes

2012 is certainly an auspicious year for the UK. As well as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics, drainage specialist Lanes also has a reason to celebrate — in fact twenty of them!

In 1992, Allan Earnshaw and business partner Graham Tattersall bought a small Leeds-based drain cleaning and repair outfit called Lanes for Drains. Back then it had a turnover of just £300,000.

Twenty years later, the Lanes Group is a national operation with a turnover of over £49 million. It is the UK’s largest independent drainage contractor in the country and, thanks to its extensive fleet of bright pink vehicles, has a brand which is not only instantly recognisable, but memorable too.

The Group’s growth started straightaway in 1992 with depot number two opening in the North West, and a third soon after in South Yorkshire. The expansion rate continued at roughly one new base a year so that Lanes now operates from 22 branches, providing specialist drainage services and 24/7 emergency response to the whole country.

It is a great reason for a right royal birthday cake celebration at Lanes!
