Lanes goes into bat for Derbyshire County Cricket Club ground development

Lanes Group has carried out a CCTV drainage survey to support a major ground development programme for Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

A team from the Lanes Derby depot completed the survey at The 3aaa County Ground in Derby to ensure that the new drainage pipes link up accurately with the main drainage system.

Lanes Group, the UK’s largest independent specialist drainage contractor, has completed the work for the development’s main contractor, Belper-based Derwent Valley Construction.

Derwent Valley Construction is carrying out extensive improvement work which includes new male and female player dressing rooms, a 300-seater conference and banqueting room, and a new public entrance atrium.

Chris Norbury, Area Development Manager for Lanes Group in the East Midlands, said: “In cricket parlance you could say our contribution has been a small but crucial knock by a tail end batsman to get the team an important win.

“Linking up drainage systems for a new development with the existing foul sewer and surface water system is a critical moment in any project.

“Using our sophisticated CCTV drainage camera systems, we were able to provide Derwent Valley Construction with HD quality video images of their drain lines, and show how they connected to the wider drainage network.

“It was a great pleasure for us to be associated with such an important development, which means so much to the sporting community and will support the continuing success of Derbyshire County Cricket Club.”

The project is part of ongoing plans to significantly improve facilities at The 3aaa County Ground, as Derbyshire County Cricket Club looks forward to a busy and important 2015 season.

The improvements are due to be completed in time for the start of the new season in April.

The dressing rooms are being created in the Elite Performance Centre, formerly known as the Gateway Centre, while the new entrance atrium and conference facilities in the 3aaa Pavilion will serve not only cricket fans but also those attending the many other events held at the ground.

Chris Norbury added: “Derbyshire County Cricket Club is expecting to attract many more spectators on match days, and increasing demand for non-match day corporate and community events.

“Under these circumstances, the new drainage systems have to be more complex and extensive to meet the latest building regulations and must be able to handle higher levels of peak demand.  Making sure they will work optimally is essential.”
