Lanes Group hits it straight down the fairway at golf tournament

Lanes Group utility engineers have been praised for their quick thinking and can-do attitude in the management of a waste water contract at an international golf tournament.

The team at the Lanes depot in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, was called in 24 hours from the start of the event which attracted more than 20,000 spectators.

They quickly put in place the optimum solution to remove waste water from portable toilets around the site, which involved bringing in a 1,500 gallon tanker that was small enough to access all areas of the site.

Lindsey Barnett, Key Account Manager f or waste broker Waste Cost Reduction Services, contracted the Lanes St Neots team to do the work as part of their total waste management solution for their client.

She praised the Lanes team for their positive attitude, adding: “Due to unusual circumstances, there was no time to fully brief the Lanes team. They rapidly assessed the situation and were able to recommend a solution.

“The service they provided during the event was seamless and very well managed. Given the relatively short time they had to plan, this was impressive and very helpful.”

Throughout the five day operation to service 20 portable toilets on the golf course, an estimated 5,000 gallons of waste water was collected and removed for disposal.

The tanker was on standby at the golf course throughout the weekend, but emptied the toilet waste tanks before 7.30am and after 6pm, so spectators and players were, at no time, inconvenienced.

Mark Reed said: “Our aim is to always put together the right equipment, expertise to get the job done. We provide similar services to a number of big ticket outdoor events, including horse racing, music festivals and agricultural shows.
