Half Marathon Success for Lanes Group Team

Lanes Group members of staff are celebrating a great team effort today after completing the Reading Half Marathon in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The seven colleagues from the Lanes Utilities Division, were joined by runners from Thames Water and sub-contractors CB Ltd, making up a team of nine that completed the 13.1 mile course yesterday.

The team clocked a highly creditable collective time of 16 hours and 25 minutes, finishing in the Madejski Stadium in front of thousands of well-wishers.

As well as supporting Cancer Research UK, the team was using the event to demonstrate Lanes’ commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of employees, customers, clients and contractors.

Lanes Utilities Division Health, Safety, Quality and Environment Manager Sarah Hurcomb said: “Despite it being a very chilly day, everyone in the team made a big effort and seven of us achieved personal best times.

“We wanted to demonstrate that Lanes supports the efforts of all staff to stay fit and healthy, and promote a good cause, and yesterday’s achievements did just that. We were delighted that we were joined by contract partners, and hope to have even more runners taking part next year.”

The nine team members were:

  • Conrad Ashby (Framework Director)
  • Marcos Gurney (Commercial Manager)
  • Sarah Hurcomb (Head of Health, Safety, Quality and Environment)
  • Phil Foster (Business Performance Analyst)
  • Daniel Southam (Regional Operations Manager)
  • Jonah McNamee (Quantity Surveyor)
  • Lawrence Summers (Director CB Ltd)
  • Martin Potter (Director CB Ltd)
  • James Kitching (Thames Water Delegated Authority).

Well done to everyone who took part!
