History in brief

  • 1992 – Established in Leeds with 15 staff members
  • 1993 – Rotherham depot established
  • 1994 – £1 million turnover reached for the first time
  • 1997 – Grew to 100 staff and £5 million turnover
  • 2002 – Grew to 200 staff and £10 million turnover
  • 2004 – £25 million turnover achieved
  • 2005 – Grew to 500 staff
  • 2006 – Winner of the Royal Mail Gold Award
  • 2007 – £50 million turnover achieved
  • 2008 – Won our first UKSTT award and proceeded to win a UKSTT award for the next five consecutive years
  • 2008 – Grew to 750 members of staff
  • 2010 – Won our first RoSPA gold award
  • 2011 – Awarded a Severn Trent Water contract for sewerage operations with a duration of five years, with the option of a five-year extension
  • 2011 – Company turnover reaches £60 million
  • 2012 – Secured our biggest ever wastewater network service contract with Thames Water. The £35 million investment also included establishing a new contract HQ in Slough, where 120 staff were employed to service the contract
  • 2013 – Grew to 1,000 staff and £100 million turnover
  • 2015 – Our internal drainage engineer training course was accredited by City & Guilds
  • 2015 – Turnover reached £130 million
  • 2015 – Acquired AQS Environmental Solutions, based in Tipperary in Ireland
  • 2015 – Acquired certain assets from the administrators of UKDN Waterflow Ltd and UKDN Technical Services Limited. The company was immediately rebranded as UKDN Waterflow (LG) Limited
  • 2015 – Grew to 1,800 staff
  • 2015 – Secured two further Scottish Water contracts
  • 2015 – Awarded another three-year utility contract with Severn Trent
  • 2015 – Delivered and completed 1,000 jobs in a single day for Thames Water – a record for the business
  • 2016 – Staff numbers pass the 2,000 mark
  • 2016 – Awarded a three-year wet waste management with BP
  • 2016 – Won two AXA insurance awards
  • 2017 – Lanes works with Thames Water to excavate the 250-metre ‘Monster’ Whitechapel fatberg. Launched our Fatberg Fighters educational resources and schools initiative
  • 2018 – Museum of London opens fatberg exhibition, featuring part of the Whitechapel fatberg
