Lanes Group ready to show its ‘military’ muscle at Rail Live

Lanes Group plc is planning its attendance at Rail Live 2016 with military precision – to showcase the future of rail track drainage support.

The company is taking the world’s most capable off-road jet vac tanker to the event on 22 and 23 June.

The JHL 8×8 jet vac tanker has been designed for military and humanitarian use in the world’s harshest environments.

Lanes Group plc is the first UK drainage specialist to target the immensely capable machine at more conventional yet challenging tasks, including rail maintenance.

Among the senior Lanes personnel showing off the vehicle, on Stand M4, will be Rail Director Bruce Crompton, star of hit TV series Combat Dealers.

Bruce is heading the Lanes Group plc team attending Rail Live at the Quinton Rail Technology Centre, Long Marston, Stratford-upon-Avon.

He said: “I’m well known in the rail industry for my passion for vintage military vehicles.

“So I’m more than pleased to be able to get my hands on a modern military vehicle, in the JHL 8×8, that has such great promise for the rail industry.

“Gaining access to remote locations to deliver fast and effective track drainage support is vital. The JHL 8×8 is a new weapon in our armoury for doing just that.

“It has eight-wheel drive and steering, plus an exceptional recycling jet vac system. So it can go pretty much anywhere, and complete the most demanding of drainage asset cleaning tasks.”

Lanes Group plc will be taking an equally powerful team of rail maintenance experts to Rail Live, following its acquisition of UKDN Waterflow (LG) Ltd.

Bruce said: “The UKDN Waterflow (LG) team already had an excellent reputation for its rail drainage services, and we’ve been busy building up their capability still further.

“It’s just been awarded the coveted Principal Contractor Licence (PCL) by Network Rail, so will now be eligible to manager larger investment projects.

“UKDN Waterflow (LG)’s services also dovetail excellently, both in terms of expertise and geographical reach, with Lanes Group plc’s other rail services.

“That means we can offer our rail clients more comprehensive and cutting edge specialist drainage and structure maintenance services than ever before.”

Lanes Group Rail Division Commercial Director Matt Todd, and Lanes Network Rail Manager Eamonn Maloney, will also be attending Rail Live.

During the event, Lanes and UKDN Waterflow (LG) teams will be giving demonstrations of the latest rail track drainage technology.

These include showing off the new Proteus CCTV survey camera system, and track trolley-mounted pipe lining pods.
