Lanes Utilities passes external audits with flying colours

Lanes Utilities has demonstrated its dedication to business systems excellence by passing two rigorous external audits with flying colours.

It has passed renewal audits for OHSAS 18001 and BSI 22301 Business Continuity Plan standards. In both cases, the audit reports reflected high standards set in maintaining the required management systems.

Lanes Utilities, part of Lanes Group, is the wastewater network maintenance partner for Thames Water, proving drain and sewer surveying, cleaning and repair services for 15 million customers.

Hannah Clark (seen above), Business Systems and Training Manager for Lanes Utilities, said: “We are very pleased with the audit reports we have received.

“We do not see these ISO accreditations as a tick box exercise. We use them to try to live and breathe the business excellence Thames Water expects of its supply chain partners.

“As such, we take these audits very seriously, with many key members of the team involved. It’s pleasing to know that we have robust systems in place assess and control the quality and ongoing consistency of our operations.”

OHSAS 18001 is designed to help organisations put in place the best policies, procedures and controls for occupational health and safety management systems.

ISO 22301 is an international standard that specifies the management systems needed to protect against, and reduce the likelihood of, disruptive incidents, and help organisations recover if they should occur.

Lanes Utilities also holds the ISO 9001 quality standard and the ISO 14001 Environmental standard.

Lanes Utilities Technical Director Andy Brierley said: “Passing these critical accreditations helps ensure our standards are industry-leading. Congratulations go to all involved in making sure our business systems are so robust.
