Celebrity, power, innovation – Lanes Group has it all at Rail Live

Celebrity selfies with a TV star, the biggest, baddest jet vac tanker in the UK and some of the hottest drainage technology to boot – Lanes Group is attracting strong interest at Rail Live.

It is the first time that Lanes Group’s Rail Division has demonstrated its services alongside colleagues from the Rail Division of UKDN Waterflow (LG), which Lanes Group plc acquired in 2015.

The combined offering, creating arguably the most comprehensive range of rail drainage services in the UK, is drawing significant interest at Rail Live, being held on June 22 and 23 at Long Marston in Warwickshire.

Perhaps, though, it was Lanes Group Rail Director Bruce Crompton who was the biggest draw. The star of hit Discovery Channel TV show Combat Dealers was in demand from fans who wanted to get a selfie with him.

Rail Live is a good place to meet with key people involved with rail engineering projects in the UK, most notably on Network Rail assets.

Matthew Todd, Commercial Director for the Lanes Rail Division, said: “The combined specialist drainage and asset maintenance services of Lanes and UKDN Waterflow (LG) create a strong offering for the rail industry, and we were pleased to see that visitors to our stand recognised that.”

Rail Live is also an opportunity to demonstrate the investment in both skills and industry-leading technology that make Lanes Group’s drainage services so capable.

The company’s JHL 8×8, the most capably rough terrain jet vac tanker in the UK, has been drawing admiring looks, and recognition that it can be put to good use supporting drainage projects along isolate railway lines.

Visitors to the stand can try their hand at controlling the new Proteus all-terrain CCTV survey camera system, which is designed to clamber its way over rubble and through mud traps in rail culverts.

A team from UKDN Waterflow (LG)’s lining team are also giving demonstrations of their lining skills to appreciative audiences, showing how no-dig technology can reduce the cost of asset maintenance and rehabilitation.

Eamonn Maloney, Head of Rail at UKDN Waterflow (LG), said: “Rail Live is an opportunity to show colleagues in the rail industry what you’re made of, and we’re doing just that.

“It’s also a place where we look to see how we can work in partnership with other contractors, both in terms of skills and technology, to better serve our customers, and deliver excellent support for Network Rail and Transport for London.”
