Our coverage of Scotland continues with a central Glasgow hub, formerly known as Castlebrae Drainage, a well respected local operator which became part of the Lanes Group back in 2006. From here, an experienced and knowledgeable team handles drain repair and drain unblocking, along with a super-efficient 24-hour emergency call-out facility for industrial, commercial and residential customers right across this swathe of Scotland.
The city of Glasgow itself is home to just under 600,000 people, with over 1.1 million more living in the Greater Glasgow urban area. The region surrounding the Glasgow conurbation covers around 2.3 million people, that’s 41% of Scotland’s population. Glasgow is where you’ll find world-famous landmarks like Ibrox Stadium (home of Glasgow Rangers FC), Celtic Park (Celtic FC), Hampden Park (Queens Park FC and Scotland’s national stadium); Victoria Infirmary, Glasgow Cathedral, Glasgow University, the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre and George Square. It’s a legendary city. Once a small rural settlement on the River Clyde, it became one of the largest seaports in the world, and from the 18th century was a major transatlantic trade route to North America and the West Indies.
The Industrial Revolution saw the population and economy grow rapidly so that Glasgow became one of the world’s centres of chemicals, textiles and engineering, most notably in shipbuilding and marine engineering which produced countless innovative and famous vessels. In Victorian and Edwardian times, Glasgow was known as the second city of the British Empire. Today it is one of Europe’s top ten financial centres, home to many of Scotland’s leading businesses, and all set to host the Commonwealth Games in 2014. For clients in this region, big or small, famous or not so, when it comes to drainage specialists, few others are as well placed as Lanes to provide such a professional and well resourced expertise.
Of course our reputation (formerly as Castlebrae and now as Lanes) goes before us. That means we’ve built up a loyal following amongst the commercial community. And, the huge amount of plant and people we have in place across Scotland means we offer the flexibility that our partners demand — being able to tackle projects at a moment’s notice and still keep up with our programmed obligations too.
This busy Lanes’ depot based in Castlemilk, just south of Glasgow and close to the B766, provides a reactive and proactive service across Strathclyde, Stirlingshire, Argyll and Bute, South Lanarkshire, East and South Ayrshire, Renfrewshire, Dumfries and Galloway and Dunbartonshire. So, whatever your drainage needs, whether you’re in Glasgow, Paisley, Hamilton, East Kilbride, Ayr, Kilmarnock and Motherwell, or Greenock, Dumbarton, Stirling, Falkirk and Dumfries, Lanes is your local drainage specialist.
