Case Studies
Blocked Highway Culvert
Lanes engineers cleared 60 tonnes of silt, stones and rocks that had blocked a large culvert under the A55 dual carriageway near Conwy in North Wales. The debris had been washed from a stream bed on a hill above the road during a period of sustained heavy rain.
Lanes used a range of specialised vacuumation and jetting equipment, demonstrating our ability and capacity to resolve difficult emergency projects quickly and effectively.
Dockside Gully Clean
Cargill’s rapeseed crush plant and refinery based in Brocklebank, Liverpool has been operating since 1995 and has around 70 employees. The crush plant produces mid protein meal and crude rape oil and has facilities to outload oil for export. The company’s facility is right on the dockside in Liverpool, from where rapeseed is unloaded for refining.
It commissioned Lanes Group to clean surface water gullies to ensure they were kept free from silt and other materials, including rapeseed. Without regular cleaning, there is a danger that rapeseed can gather in the gullies and compact. The oil can then contribute to the creation of a solid mass that can block gullies, potentially causing localised flooding.
