Hotwell tank rehabilitation
Heinz is one of the world’s best known food brands. Kitt Green, near Wigan, is the largest food-processing site in Europe. Lanes Group was commissioned to rehabilitate and strengthen two 61-cubic metre hotwell tanks by lining them with Ultracoat.
Ultracoat is a structural epoxy coating system used for the rehabilitation and structural reinforcement of a wide range of substrates. Manhole repair, tunnel maintenance, bunds, culverts, and many other surfaces or structures can be coated. After its single coat application, Ultracoat leaves a hard wearing, smooth and waterproof coating, with excellent chemical resistance.
Football Ground Drain Excavation
Following a previous drainage problem, Blackburn Rovers FC appointed Lanes Group to carry out regular maintenance checks and repair work at its Ewood Park Stadium and at the club’s training village in Brockhall. During one of these routine checks, Lanes engineers found that a clay drain in the flood defence drainage system at Ewood Park, had collapsed. This was on the main line taking storm water from the pitch and stadium to its river outfall.
Because the collapse was discovered before it could have caused a problem, potentially disrupting a match, a repair could be planned. As it was a complete collapse, it could not be repaired using a trenchless technique, such as relining. It had to be tackled through traditional excavation and repair.
