Lanes in the local community
Our engineers are highly active in the local community in and around Bristol, working every day on a range of important projects that help residents and businesses go about their day-to-day lives with the minimum of disruption.
For example, we carried out a comprehensive CCTV survey to ensure Bristol Royal Infirmary’s drainage infrastructure remains free of blockages and problems for the foreseeable future.
In addition, we have worked hard to help reduce local flooding risks in Bristol and Somerset, among a range of other important projects.
Operation Stream Clean: do you have a misconnection?
A misconnection is when household appliances or bathrooms are connected to the wrong drain, usually to the surface water system instead of the foul water sewer network.
That means raw sewage and contaminated wastewater is going straight into our rivers and streams causing pollution (https://www.lanesfordrains.co.uk/advice/wastewater-connections/). Ultimately it’s a public health risk. And it’s illegal.
Hence initiatives like ‘Operation Stream Clean’, a joint venture between Wessex Water, Bristol City Council and the Environment Agency.
If your property has been identified as having a misconnection, you’ll know that it’s your responsibility to put it right within a specified time limit. If you don’t, you may face prosecution.
It’s time for action
Don’t panic. Just talk to Lanes, your local drainage specialist. We’ll put your connections right and get you back up and running — on the right side of the law — before you know it.
