Junior football team wins boost with Lanes sponsorship deal

A Sheffield junior football team has won backing from Lanes Group plc with a two-year sponsorship deal.

Tinsley Juniors Under 13 Steel players are sporting the Lanes logo on their shirts for the next two seasons.

The team is coached by Tony Bramhall, the Regional Manager of the Lanes Sheffield depot, which is located in Tinsley.

“We urgently needed a sponsor. The money raised is essential to keep our teams going,” said Tony Bramhall.

“I was pleased that Lanes understands our value as a community sports team and agreed to sponsor us. It makes a huge difference.

“Lanes is also backing a club with its home pitch little more than a mile from our depot, so we’re very much supporting our local community.”

Tinsley Juniors Football Club is a member of the Football Association’s Sheffield and District Junior Sunday League, which claims to be the largest junior league in Europe.

Founded in 2014, the club celebrates its 10th anniversary next year, and has 10 teams playing up to the under 13s age group.

Club Chairman David Johnson said: “We’re very grateful to companies like Lanes for supporting grassroots football in Sheffield.

“We couldn’t provide the affordable opportunities to play sport for the scores of girls and boys in our teams without their help.”

Tinsley Juniors Under 13 Steel is one of 10 teams the club runs and has 15 players registered with the FA, three of them girls.

Some of the players have been in the squad since it began as an under 7s team in 2017.

The club won an FA Grassroots Club of the Year Award in 2019 and, next year, plans to launch its first all-girls team.
