Lanes newcomer wins top industry award

Lanes Assistance Services (LAS), part of the Lanes Group plc, may be one of the newest names on the block, but it has netted a top award in the insurance industry ‘oscars’.

Tim Walker of LAS receives the British Insurance industry ebusiness award from Jacquie Boast of award sponsors, Kewill.

Set up in July 2006, LAS has already established itself as a leading provider of network management for insurance companies in just two years of operation, contributing substantially to the group’s £70 million turnover.

Tim Walker, Director of LAS, was presented with the 2008 British Insurance Award for EBusiness at the Royal Albert Hall in London in front of an audience of 1800. He says:

“We were delighted to be nominated for the award in the first place because we felt that was a huge achievement for such a young company. But to win such a prestigious award was truly incredible. We really are very proud indeed.”

He explains why he thinks that LAS has come so far, so quickly:

“Right from the outset, we determined that we would offer something different. One of our outstanding features is that we are committed to using the most advanced technology possible, and that’s given us a major competitive edge.

“We have pushed the technology boundaries to the extent that data captured in the field is processed within minutes, making a fully detailed report, estimate and photographs available to our authorisation team and insurer before the surveyor even leaves site.

“We even use digital pens which write with a normal ink ballpoint but capture the handwriting and deliver it to the web-based claim system where the data is uploaded into the job file and the estimate is constructed automatically.

“That, along with the quality of service we offer, is obviously a winning combination,” he concludes, adding “And we hope that this is the first of many awards for Lanes Assistance Services!”
