Our concrete removal services

At Lanes, we use sophisticated methods to efficiently remove solid concrete masses from drains and sewers, working efficiently to ensure your pipes are running clean again as quickly as possible.

Our concrete removal services can help you in the following ways:

  • Using robotic cameras and manual assessments to learn the scale and cause of the concrete blockage, allowing us to determine the best possible solution
  • Utilising robotic cutting tools and ultra high-pressure jetting units to remove smaller concrete spills
  • Sending teams of manual workers equipped with breathing apparatus into larger drains to tackle larger concrete masses by hand
  • Managing potential flooding risks while the work is carried out, including diverting wastewater flows into other sewers, or using tanker over-pumping to load up and transport the sewage directly to the sewage treatment works

We are equipped to deal with concrete blockages of any size, and will work closely with you to make sure that our work can be completed as quickly and with as little disruption to you as possible.

What is a concreteberg?

A concreteberg is a large mass of building material that accumulates in the drain as a result of concrete, cement and grout being poured down the drain. This causes serious blockages and damage to the drainage infrastructure.

This can happen when concrete accidentally runs into the sewer during building work, or is intentionally poured away when it is no longer needed. Smaller blockages can also occur when tradespeople clean cement off their tools and equipment and pour the washout water into drains and gullies, resulting in the material congealing and forming into solid masses within the pipes.

Concretebergs take their name from fatbergs, which are similarly huge masses that result from solidified fat, oil and grease congealing with non-biodegradable items to form blockages. They are usually even more difficult to remove, especially when the concrete sets to the brickwork found in older sewer systems.
