Lanes duo’s Buckingham Palace invite is no accident

Health and safety professionals Paul McParland and Jane Horan enjoyed the sunshine – while taking care to protect themselves from harmful rays, of course – at a Buckingham Palace garden party.

They were representing Lanes Group at the prestigious event, hosted by the Duke of York and his daughter Princess Eugenie, to celebrate the Centenary of the Royal Society for the Pretention of Accidents.

Paul, Lanes Group’s Health, Safety, and Environment Manager, and Jane, its Health and Safety Co-ordinator, enjoyed perfectly poised sandwiches, and the finest cups of tea.

Lanes Group holds the RoSPA Gold Medal for health and safety, after winning eight consecutive RoSPA Gold Awards. It was one of many organisations with excellent safety records invited to attend the 100th anniversary celebration.

Paul said: “It was a pleasure to be able to support RoSPA in such pleasant and auspicious surroundings. More importantly, it was an opportunity to help RoSPA raise awareness about its work to protect lives.”

Among the guests was RoSPA Ambassador and former Olympic rower James Cracknell, who was left in a coma after he was hit by a truck while cycling across the USA in 2010.
